Doctor Clown

Active Child Aid together with Doctor Clown works with children who are in hospitals and have varying degrees of disease severity. We gathering in 2-3 people, wear colored suits, apply light makeup and, necessarily, clownish noses and deliver an excellent therapy for little patients with laughter and fun.

Today we work in 3 hospitals in Lvov that have about 1000 children daily.

Children who have diseases and stay in hospital for a long time are deprived of usual joys of childhood to the full extent which the other children can enjoy.

The feeling that you are different and need care, constant medical intervention, the feeling of parents’ anxiety depresses children even more.

But for the 2 years of our work it was revealed that the visits of our volunteers do help the children, at least for a while, to get rid of their anxiety, stress, fear, pain associated with their stay in hospital.

The volunteers weekly visit children in 3 hospitals of L’viv (Public institution of L’viv Regional Council "Western Ukrainian Specialized Children's Medical Center", Regional Children's Clinical Hospital OKHMATDYT, City Children's Clinical Hospital) and improve children’s psycho-emotional state and give them some presents (a toy air balloon animal, a clownish nose and candies).
